Hotten provides an overview of the various expeditions to Abyssinia up to that time, as well as selected pieces on music, language, slavery etc. The second part of the book is devoted to Plowden’s 1855 expedition, and the third to Badger’s tale of captivity. The final section comprises suggested routes for further expeditions.
