Irving is “truly sorry” to hear the recipient’s husband “was unwell”, and mentioning the weather and Ellen Terry also falling foul to a seasonal malady: “This weather is certainly most trying, even to the strongest. I am sorry to say that Miss Terry is laid low & obliged to be away from us.”
