Three French editions of Kolb’s seminal work on the Cape were published in 1741, 1742 and 1743 respectively, the first of the three having an additional alegorical frontispiece. This copy has very attractive gilt spines.
Kolb’s work together with much other information has a genuine claim to include the first list of South African animals (Sclater The Fauna of South Africa). SAB III, p6.
