Die Gemeinwirtschaft. Untersuchungen über de Sozialismus.
“A detailed analysis and devastating critique of all aspects - economic, cultural, social, etc - and of all varieties of socialism” (Greaves & McGee). The book “had a decisive impact on a whole generation of rising intellectual leaders such as F. A. Hayek and Wilhelm Röpke, who after World War II would lead the nascent neoliberal movement” (ANB). An English translation was published under the title Socialism: An Economic and Sociological Analysis in 1936. In reviewing the English translation, Henry Hazlitt would champion the book as “the most devastating analysis of socialism yet penned” (cited in his Free Man’s Library, p. 119).
