Cobden-Sanderson declared that ‘the English Bible is a supreme achievement achievement of English Literature’; looking back, we can confidently state that his Doves Bible is a supreme achievement of English typography. It is a triumphant work, considered to be the magnum opus of the press. Colin Franklin exclaims: “Nothing is so stark and pure, such unbending art as the Dove’s Bible”. Here we have probably the greatest example of his work with the opening great red ‘I’ of Genesis which Ransom describes as “a pattern for all time of complexity reduced to the minimum of simplicity”.\u003c\/p\u003e\n","brand":"Maggs Bros.","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":67972640833845,"sku":"264652","price":25000.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0669\/0045\/9677\/files\/w4443_02.jpg?v=1793160051","url":"https:\/\/store.maggs.com\/products\/english-bible-rtojtcxz","provider":"Maggs Bros.","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
