FLETCHER (William Younger)
English Bookbindings in the British Museum [with] Foreign Bookbindings in the British Museum

Very good, spines faded to brown, covers with inoffensive scuffs, extremities rubbed, spotting to foredge.

An important survey of British and ‘foreign’ bookbindings in the British Museum, in a binding demonstrating both restraint in the plain geometric rules of the covers and extravagant luxury in the highly decorated turn-ins and doublures. A fitting celebration for one of the greatest collections of bookbindings.
