LEWITT (Sol)
Four Basic Kinds of Straight Lines
Good, spine slightly soiled, ownership inscription in pen to title page.
Combining elements of his two earlier book works, Sol LeWitt imagines every possible permutation created by combining a grid of vertical, horizontal and diagonal straight lines in both colour and black and white. Beginning with a contents page which introduces LeWitts artistic algorithm, the book proceeds to build shimmering fields of colour through the overlaying of these grids on top of one another, building to a crescendo which appears chaotic while in reality being rigidly organised.
