Akamatsu Rinsaku (1878–1953) had studied Western-style painting (yoga) in Tokyo before returning to Osaka. Noda Kyuho (1879–1971) was a Tokyo-born artist who moved to Osaka to work as an illustrator. Mizushima Nihofu (1884–1958) was also born in Tokyo, while Hata Tsuneharu (1883–1944) was a Kansai illustrator who was famous for the modern “sketch-tour” feel of his prints. Although Bun’endo was located in Tokyo, the owner Kanao Tanejiro had been born in Osaka, and he wanted to use local artists to produce this album about an area that he was particularly fond of.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRare.
