Blackmer 1819 (citing the 1802 first edition): “The basic contemporary account of the Anglo-French conflict in Egypt. [The author] joined Abercromby at Aboukir Bay in March, 1801. He was present at the siege and capitulation of Alexandria, and he entered Cairo in July. Wilson took part in many of the Napoleonic campaigns; later he became Governor of Gibraltar.”
