LIFAR (Serge).
Joseph Gregor was a theatre historian from Vienna, who worked for a while as assistant to Max Reinhardt, and wrote three librettos for Richard Strauss. He founded the Theatre collection at the Austrian National Library, and there is still some debate over his role there in the Nazi period, some accusing him of appropriating the libraries of persecuted German and Austrian writers and intellectuals, others seeing him as the saviour of those libraries. Both inner hinges repaired with opaque tape, one small tear at the tail of the spine, covers grubby, some rubbing and creasing.
