An extraordinary large format photo-book on Manchuria published by Asahi Newspaper. The book is entirely composed of double-page photo-essays on a wide variety of subjects relating to religious customs, festivals, industry, agriculture, population, and geography: “Growing Manchoukuo; Spotlight on Manchoukuo; Population Basis of Manchoukuoan Progress; Religion; Meltingpot of Languages; Fantastic Symbols of Sculptured Art; Food for all Tastes etc. etc.” Combining photo-montages with patriotic text, this is a truly remarkable product of Japanese propaganda produced on behalf of the Information Office of the State Council of Manchukuo (Manshukoku kokumuin kohosho).
