Inscribed on the front pastedown by the author, ‘as always, Harry Lauder 1941’, accompanied by a pen and ink self portrait. Loosely inserted is a TLS from an unidentified correspondent at Metro Goldwyn Mayer to Major Eric Maschwitz at the War Office, promising more Lauder books in the future. Maschwitz was a popular writer and broadcaster, and wrote the lyrics for ‘A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square’.
