An early work by Sir Ralph George Hawtrey (1879–1975), an associate of the Bloomsbury Group and close friend of John Maynard Keynes, being one of the few authors to whom Keynes acknowledged an intellectual debt in the Preface to his General Theory. A collection of essays written between 1915 and 1922, Monetary Reconstruction deals with the breakdown of the international financial system and the continuing attempts at its reconstruction.
