Blackmer 1649: “First edition; a second edition appeared the same year and a 3rd edition appeared in 1865. Thackeray’s Notes are dedicated to the Captain of the steamship he travelled on, and they provide a most amusing and ingenious account of this Mediterranean cruise which took place in 1844. The plates are after sketches by Thackeray himself, who had studied art in Paris.”
