STOUT (Hon. Robert.)
Notes on the Progress of New Zealand 1864-1884.
INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR
Inscribed by the author, and former Premier of the colony, “To His Excellency Sir C. Ferguson Bart etc, Governor General of New Zealand with the respectful compliments of the author. Robert Stout.”
A lovely association copy of this informative overview of New Zealand’s development in the latter half of the nineteenth century. Sir Charles Ferguson (1865-1951) was the third Governor General of New Zealand and served from 1924-1930.
The book considers changed in population, religion, education, imports and exports, agriculture, the economy, and transport. It is considerably augmented by the folding charts at the back.
Stout died in July of that year.
