A collection of essays by the celebrated Oxford moral philosopher R.M. Hare, published only three years before his death in 2001. Of Hare, Allan Gibbard remarked: “Perhaps no philosopher since Kant has developed a theory of moral judgement and moral reasoning so ingenious and so carefully worked through as R.M. Hare” (quoted in Biographical Dictionary of Twentieth-Century Moral Philosophers).
