The chromolithography, which is by Schumacher & Ettlinger of New York, is of the highest quality, the colours deep and dense, the shading superbly nuanced. Most of the plates are enhanced by ornate borders in gold, only slightly affected by oxidation and off-set. Ships featured include the Constitution, Miantonomoh, & Destroyer.
