A survivor of the action was the 12 year old David Dixon Porter who was made a prisoner and later exchanged, becoming in later years a famous seaman.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe American captain David Henry Porter encountered a large convoy as he thought inadequately defended.
