A curious piece of ephemera from the Arabian Gulf. This dual-language trade card advertised the work of Naeem Shaikh Adam, a goldsmith and silversmith based in Sharjah. An example of his art, a diminutive Jambiya in decorative sheath, has been pinned to the card.
The card and broach were most likely purchased by a Western visitor to Sharjah in the 1970s, when the Emirate began to rapidly modernise, becoming increasingly open to international business and travel.
