Written in the wake of the 1929 stock market crash and before the passage of the Securities Act of 1933, Sherrod advocates in this work “for the divorcement of true banking from security flotation and high-pressure salesmanship. It [the book] is directed against unsound practices…” (viii). Sherrod himself worked selling securities, and tells of his experiences (and regrets) in the industry in the hopes of effectuating changes in the system.

Interestingly, before this official publication of the work, Sherrod self-published and self-printed the work (also in 1931), selling almost 10,000 copies (according to the publisher’s foreword).

Dust jacket rather worn, with small tears and smudges, some foxed spots to fore edges, internally fine. Former owner’s inscription to ffep.
