POTTER (Beatrix).
The Tale of Timmy Tiptoes.
It is believed that Timmy Tiptoes. was written primarily for American children, among whom Beatrix Potter had several fans by 1911, as they would have been familiar with chipmunks, bears and grey squirrels. The population of American grey squirrels, which were first introduced in the UK in the late 19th century, was increasing in the UK at the time.
