The pencilled annotation, “Now leading man for L of N [League of Nations]”, is a pertinent reference to Gilbert Murray (1866-1957), with whom Russell had a strained relationship owing to their opposing stances on the question of pacifism during the First World War.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe second issue, November 1934, bears some pencilled annotations in a different, unidentified hand to the article on ‘Artists International’ by T.H.
