A little-known but significant book on the development of the United Arab Emirates in the mid-twentieth century. Julian Walker (1929-2018) served as a British diplomat to the Trucial Coast in the 1950s, and later became Ambassador to Yemen and Qatar, and Consul General in Dubai. This memoir describes his part in demarcating the Trucial States’ borders during the years 1953-57, which went some way to defining the modern borders of the Emirates.
