Elephant folio (595 x 490 mm); fifteen sheets: nine double-page charts, two double-page harbour charts (Gibraltar and Port Mahon) and four double-page sheets of coastal profiles. Some pages creased; general waterstaining. [Madrid: Vincente Tofiño De San Miguel], 1789.
Don Tofiño De San Miguel (1732-1795) was a Spanish mariner and chart-maker, who published the first printed Spanish sea-atlas, the ‘Atlas maritimo de Espana’, 1787 [-1789]. This volume contains part of the ‘Atlas maritimo de Espana’, containing only those charts of Spain’s Mediterranean coasts and the Balearics with harbour charts of Gibraltar and Port Mahon. This was the most important sea-atlas of the region of the period.
