NAIMUSHO CHIRIKYOKU.
Yokohama Jissoku-zu - Map of Yokohama.
An important foundational document for the history of Yokohama. This detailed map was published after a survey undertaken by the Geography Bureau of the Ministry of the Interior. It clearly shows the early foreign enclave, which similarly to Deshima (Nagasaki) was built on reclaimed land and only accessible via a number of bridges crossing a moat. The map shows every property in the newly opened port, each of which is given a number. It also includes the new railway line between Shimbashi and Yokohama, which had been opened in October, 1872, the race course and the shooting range.
Rare. OCLC only lists the 1883 edition of the map held in the National Diet Library.
