A particularly fine copy of this most interesting book. A “somewhat peculiar woman” according to her obituary in The Times, Lady Florence Dixie, the Marquis of Queensberry’s daughter, travelled extensively throughout her early life in pursuit of big game, although her journey to Patagonia was inspired not by her lust for sport but rather a desire to escape from “civilisation and its surroundings”. Robinson (Wayward Women), p65.
