DICKENS (Charles).
The Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby.

First edition in the publisher’s special full green morocco. Originally issued in the nineteen monthly parts between 1838 and 1839.

Not the earliest issue of the text or plates, with “sister” on p.123 correctly printed rather than “visitor”, and “letter” rather than “latter” on p. 160. The first four plates do not have the publisher’s imprint which is seen with the very earliest issues of the monthly parts, though the frontispiece does.

A very good copy, some wear and rubbing to the extremities of the morrocco, a few scratches and marks to the boards, spine panel lightly age-toned. Text block particularly clean, with only a little age-toning along the edges of the plates.
