Sandler 1915. Oman describes Kincaid as a “humourist”, remembering “… all the ludicrous situations, practical jokes, and misadventures, in which he and his comrades and were concerned.” [Wellington’s Army p.28], DNB quotes Cope somewhat in Kincaid’s defence, “Cope, the historian of the rifle brigade, says that, although written with too much levity, they contain many facts of interest, and the dates and statements are confirmed by more formal authorities”.
