CARROLL (Lewis).
Alice’s Adventures Under Ground. Being a Facsimile of the Original Ms. Book afterwards developed into Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
A lovely facsimile edition of Carroll’s original manuscript which came to be Alice in Wonderland, described by Carroll in his preface as “the germ that was to grow into the published volume”. It features 37 of Carroll’s amateur but evocative drawings scattered across the text, which inspired the illustrator John Tenniel in his work for the published novel. This facsimile of Carroll’s manuscript offers insight into the development of one of children’s literature’s most beloved stories.
A very good copy, small amount of spotting to opening leaves, spine slightly faded with minor wear at ends.
