First edition. 8vo. viii, 251, [1] pp. Original blue cloth, spine lettered in gilt, dust jacket (heavy wear to extremities with some loss to tips of spine panel and upper corners of jacket, notwithstanding a good copy overall, internally clean). London, Macmillan & Co. Ltd, 1947.
Pigou was requested by the British government to produce an account of the period spanning from the post-war economic slump of 1919 to the return of the Gold Standard in 1925 for use in government departments during the Second World War. To Pigou’s annoyance the government insisted on treating it as sensitive information, and they did not permit it to be published until 1947.
