A rare shape book with a rhyming verse about life in Australia, attributed to “M.G.”. The cover depicts the Australian mainland with vignettes of cities Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, and in the territory of Western Australia, two cherubic youths head for the gold fields with pickaxes and spades. The illustrations within show native animals including kangaroo, emu and roseate cockatoo; Aboriginal people; sheep mustering, and a bullock team crossing the bush. The verso of the cover has a list of the five states and their capitals, rivers and mountains.
