TODHUNTER, John.
The Banshee and Other Poems.
An important presentation copy, inscribed on the half-title “Katharine Tynan from J. Todhunter.“ With a later bookplate of one Geraldine Carrigan Reelman.
The Banshee was Todhunter’s first work to bear on Irish themes, and is dedicated to Standish O’Grady “who first gave me an interest in our Bardic tales”. It includes his most anthologised poem, “Aghadoe”, set to music by Liam Clancy.
With an Autograph Letter Signed, 1 1/2 pp., 8vo, 19 March 1914, from the author to Elkin Mathews regarding the publishing history of The Black Cat and the unavailability of a copy of The Comedy of Sighs. Very nice copy.
