This is the text of the Peace Treaty entered into by Philip IV of Spain and the Netherlands at Madrid, 3rd March, 1648.
By this Treaty it was confirmed that Spain and Holland should retain their sovereignty over their possessions in the East and West Indies and American coasts; the Dutch possessions in Brazil to include those places which had been taken from them by the Portuguese since 1641.
