Rare four-sheet chart of the central part of the north-eastern coast of Scotland from Duncansby Head (John O’Groats) south to Banff, on the southern shore of the Moray Firth east of Inverness.

This chart is one of a sequence commissioned by the Customs and Excise from John Ainslie, the foremost surveyor in private practice in Scotland at this time. The chart was surveyed in 1785; Adams, in his biogeraphy of Ainslie gives the publication date as May 1786.
