Of great rarity and importance for the early history of Canada. This is one of the first reports on Champlain’s first voyage to America. Accompanying the governor of Dieppe, Amyar de Chastres, on a fur trading expedition, the work includes a narrative of his exploration of the St Lawrence, as well as observations on native customs and the fur trade. Covering the years 1598-1604, there is also much information on Jesuit activity in the New World beyond Canada such as China, Japan and Peru. Sabin, 11627; T.P.L., 6295.
