A fine lithograph view of Funchal.

Following the death of William IV in 1837, the Queen Dowager, Adelaide, lived her final years as an invalid, seeking more temperate climes. In 1838-39 she spent the winter in Malta, and in 1847-48 she wintered in Madeira, where the artist acted as her Equerry. She died in December 1849 in Stanmore, now a northern suburb of London.
