Two of the six poems are here first published, including “Passing the love of Women”, of which Fletcher notes that Gray “did not recall having written this poem … it is not precisely in Gray’s manner, suggesting rather a melancholy Uranian schoolmaster … its competence and feeling, though are well above that of George Ives or any of the homo-erotic poets of the 1890s”.
