HARTLEY (J.R.) & [RUSSELL (Michael)]
Fly Fishing

Good, small puncture hole to upper joint of both boards intruding slightly to upper board, small dents to upper cover, extremities lightly bumped.

Inscribed by the author, ‘With best wishes / né Michael Russell’. The famed and entirely fictional book featured in a heartwarming television advert for the Yellow Pages was made into a reality by the author Michael Russell, writing pseudonymously as J.R. Hartley. Imagining what the Hartley of the advert may have written was a playful literary invention, but also a commercially astute one; bookshops and even the British Library had received a flood of requests for the book following the airing of the advert, requests which Russell gratefully fulfilled.
