A fine copy, Inscribed on the half title “For Jane & David Panama April 1 2001.” Koster, novelist and journalist, was Cornwell’s friend and fixer in Panama. A letter to Koster during the planning of The Tailor of Panama (A Private Spy, p404) illustrates Cornwell’s methods, saying that “ … my interests are as usual arcane. If an English tailor had set up a high-quality custom tailoring business for the élite of Panama & surrounding countries, where would it be sited, how would he live, where - he’s married with children - what would his social life be … these are the kind of things we wd be exploring together … treating fantasy as non-fiction & researching it on the ground …“
