Two further obituary notices are laid in and in the second volume in its original envelope addressed to John W. Layard (author of Stone Men of Malekula) is a two page autograph letter, signed, from Rivers. The envelope is inscribed by Layard - “Rivers’s last letter to me” - the postmark being 21 March 1922. Rivers died on the 4th of June 1922 and the St. John’s College, Cambridge funeral memorial is tipped in.
