Orwell’s sixth published book in which he recounts his experiences fighting in the Spanish Civil War.
Provenance: From the library of Orwell scholar and former UCL deputy librarian Ian Angus, with his neat pencilled ownership to the front free endpaper. A reprint of an article written by Orwell is mounted to front free endpaper, with manuscript notes in Angus’ hand below. Angus was the co-editor of Orwell’s Collected Journalism, Essays and Letters published in 1968 and also later contributed to editing the enormous 20-volume edition of Orwell’s Complete Works published 1997-8.
A good copy only, offsetting to endpapers, contents slightly browned and dusty but generally unmarked, cloth somewhat worn and dust soiled, especially spine, rear joint starting to split.
