The Human Inheritance, The New Hope, Motherhood.
Inscribed on the title page to Sharp’s cousin and future brother-in-law ‘R.F. Sharp from his Mother April 27th 1882’. The author’s first book of poems, which enjoyed some small success and attracted the attention of Harper’s Magazine, for whom he was to write, thus ensuring a way out of his difficult financial circumstances.
