[GODLONTON (R.)]
Introductory Remarks to a Narrative of the Irruption of the Kafir Hordes.
An extraordinary copy of this very rare book, with the addition of six other items which further highlight relations between the colonists and Kaffirs in the Albany district. The work embraces the early history of the Cape until the war of 1834-5, and it “contains much authentic information” (Theal).
The book is also important in bibliographic terms, since it bears the imprint of Meurant, who set up the first printing press in Grahamstown in 1830. Mendelssohn I, pp610-1; Theal, p117.
