Bellot sailed on the second of the voyages of the Prince Albert to be sponsored by Lady Franklin. Under the captaincy of William Kennedy the ship set out to discover the fate of Sir John Franklin and the other members of his expedition. Sadly Bellot perished at the age of twenty-seven and this posthumously published account describes the trip to Prince Regent Inlet and the search of the area between Somerset Island and the Boothia Peninsula. Bellot Strait was discovered on a sledging journey at this time. Arctic Bibliography, 1304. Lande, S169. Sabin, 4567.
