Déodat de Dolomieu (1750-1801) was a French geologist; both the dolomite mineral as well as the Dolomites in the Italian Alpes are named after him.
The author undertook this trip with Dolomieu through the Alps shortly before the latter passed away. This work is the only one published during Dolomieu’s time which discusses his explorations in the Alps.
