[KUWAIT] & SAI'DAN (Hamad M.)
Kuwait Street Directory.

Spread across 235 individual sections, this is as detailed as map of Kuwait as one could hope for.

In the introduction, Hamad M. Sa’idan writes: “Kuwait with its progressive towards modernisation is badly in need of a directory for its cities and roads. It is in fact a necessity for organization and keeping abreast of more advanced countries which are few in number … As regards its contents this road and street directory is probably the first of its kind to be compiled in our area, or for that matter, in the third world.” While the latter claim is doubtful, this is certainly the first street directory for Kuwait.

OCLC locates copies at LoC and Abu Dhabi’s department of culture and tourism. A later edition (1981) is recorded at Harvard.
