Henri Lammens was a Belgian Orientalist, who began his academic career at the School of Oriental Studies at the Jesuit College in Beirut in 1907. La Mecque a la Veille de l’Hegire (‘Mecca on the Eve of the Hegira’) is a historical study of Mecca at the time of the prophet Muhammad’s flight from persecution in 622 CE.
