A near fine copy with a fine presentation inscription on the title page from the author, in Russian, to John le Carré, dating from Cornwell’s second visit to Moscow in September 1993. Volkov (1900-1996) was an unrepentant monarchist and spent some 25 years in various gulags and internal exiles.
