The Manoeuvrer was a small propeller which was intended to drive the ship round on its own axis, giving the posibility of manoeuvrability when the ship was disabled due to “…the failure of a Ship’s rudder at a critical moment, and of an insufficiency of means to bring the guns to bear, when she is becalmed, or disabled in sails, rigiing or otherwise.”
