WHITE, Gleeson.

Letters to Living Artists.

Small device on title page, presumably by White. First edition, one of 25 large paper copies signed by the publisher. 8vo., original green cloth. London: Elkin Mathews, 1890.

£265.00

With a small stain on the endpapers and a little wear to the binding, but a very good copy indeed of this rare issue. White’s antipathy to Millais is in marked contrast to his enthusiasm for Whistler, the “artistic Newton” who is “the source of what molecular force exists in the art criticism of today”: “Thames water has become in your hands the nectar of the gods.”
